The Black Sun. The Sun of All Suns ~ Melnā Saule. Visu Sauļu saule (“El Sol Negro. El Sol de Todos los Soles”).

The Black Sun. The Sun of All Suns is a selection of paintings that focuses in the Sun as the main motive but understanding it not only in its physical and tangible manifestation but rather in its deepest sense: The Sun behind the visible Sun, this is, the Hidden Sun or Black Sun, that was worshiped in India, Sumer, Egypt, in the Pre-Christian cultures of Europe and in the Pre-Columbian civilizations such as the Incas and the Mayas.

These paintings are an evocation of that Sun, a reflection of that mysterious and fascinating light. Saules Muzejs. Rīga, June 14 - July 19, 2013.
